My name is Maysa Albarcha. I have been a part of the St. Louis community all my life. I am married with 4 children who have all been students at ADS. I’m an interior designer and an avid house flipper as well. I have been honored to have served as a shura member for 4 terms and Maintenance committee member/ chair for over 16 years. I also have been a member/chair of the Islamic speakers bureau for 15 years. We provide lectures to non-Muslims on Islam and Muslim culture. Inshallah if elected, I will continue to try to make the best decisions for the IFGSTL I can based on my experience and knowledge of the community. I will also continue to contribute to the peaceful culture that exists currently in the shura.

My name is Tauhid Ansari, an American citizen by naturalization. I am living in Ballwin MO since 2006. By profession, I am an electrical engineer and completed MBA in project management. I work for a multinational engineering company. I held various technical and management position throughout my career. During my career I got opportunity to work in 5 different countries that helped me working with diverse group of people and understanding different culture and society.

I have been a member of the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis since 2006. Apart from being a source of entertainment for mussalis at the masjid fountain after Isha prayer, I have been part of the election committee for 5 years that I am resigning to contest in the current election of Majlis Ash-Shura. During this period, I learned a lot especially how to manage conflict. Inshallah, I will be able to use this skill in future as needed. If elected, I will utilize my problem solving, negotiation and business management skill to improve the performance of Majlis Ash-Shura and entertainment at “fawara” (fountain) will continue as usual.


Sara Beg is a 2nd-grade teacher in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. She previously worked with the Sunday Madrassa as a teacher and office staff. She currently serves as the Muslim coordinator for the Jewish and Muslim Teen Dialogue group, which is done in conjunction with the JCRC. She also serves on the planning committee for the Jewish and Muslim Day of Community Service. In addition, she helps facilitate various interfaith youth activities in the St. Louis area. Sara Beg holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saint Louis University, a Bachelor of Science in Education from University of Missouri- St. Louis and a Masters of Education in Reading from University of Missouri-Columbia. Sara is a lifelong St. Louisan and a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.


Life member of IFGSTL since 2005. Served several terms as member of the Majlis Ash-Shura in IFGSTL, 2011-2014 and current term. Chairman of the Education committee overseeing various educational institutions including As Salam Day School. Saturday madrassa and Sunday school. 2016-17, 2011-14.

My name is Salman Syed and I have been a member of the St. Louis community for over three years. I am married and a father of two, a daughter and a son. I work as an independent IT consultant and try to solve complex business problems for businesses around the globe. I have a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock.

As part of the St. Louis community, I serve on the Al Salam Day School board and have worked with the social services, including funeral services, Baitulmal and other initiatives. I also help with the maintenance of IT infrastructure at the foundation. I had been involved with the Islamic Center of Little Rock and was in the executive committee for two years and also served as the Sunday principal for two years. As part of the shura, I would like to bring about new initiatives to the community, especially around the youth and technological advances at the foundation.


Tyler Taylor is a veteran who served six years in a nuclear reactor operator and converted to Islam after being honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy. While in the Navy, he completed a BS in Applied Nuclear Technology and was deployed overseas twice. He is a pharmacist, married with one child, and currently works for his father-in-law, Yusaf Beg, a longtime and distinguished member of the community. Since becoming a member, Tyler has looked forward to the opportunity to bring his perspective to the Islam Foundation Majlis Al-Shura. Despite having an additional BS in Biology and a Doctorate in Pharmacy, Tyler is currently working on completing a Masters in Forensic Drug Chemistry.
